Add Count Type: Intersection Safety Behaviours
Quote from D_Clark on June 29, 2021, 22:30It would be great to be able to gather statistics on the behaviours of intersection users related to safety/legality - especially as intersection become more complex/unfamiliar with the addition of infrastructure to accommodate non-motorized users. This would involve counting actions such as:
- running yellow and red lights
- failing to yield right-of-way
- rolling stops (right turn on red)
- unsafe left turns
- collisions
- near-misses
- speeding
- distracted driving
- J-walking
- close passing
- following too close
- harassment
- incorrect use of cycling/pedestrian infrastructure
- etc...
The counts could apply to all users (cyclists, motorists, pedestrians, etc...). Would need to clearly specify which part/direction of the intersection was being monitored (in the count location description/comments?) .
Thanks for giving this some thought.
